Hotel Type

Designer Hotel

Previously the headquarters of an Italian bank, the Hotel Aleph occupies a distinguished 5-story building a short-ride from the main train terminal in central Rome. The first hotel by interior architect Adam Tihany, of New York's Le Cirque and Las Vegas' Aureole, is a journey though Dante's Infernoand its colorful interpretations of heaven and hell.  More of a large scale art presentation than traditional boutique hotel; guests should prepare to have every surface of their stay touched by the designer's influence. The lobby features a red-lacquered design with crystal accents and elaborate samurai statues. "Hell" spills-over into Maremonto Restaurant with its minimalist red-soaked designs and adjacent Angelo Bar with its library theme of wood paneling and red-tufted lounge furnishings. "Heaven" incorporates a pristine, state-of-the-art Aleph Spa with modern lap pool inspired by Roman baths.

The Room

Free of the hotel’s overall red-color theme, the hotel’s 93 guest rooms feature a whimsical color palette of refreshing ivory and blue. Each room combines contemporary and period furnishings like 1940’s style club chairs, white-lacquer desks with shiny-chrome table lamps. The walls offer muted-fabric coverings with Murano light fixtures and the occasional abstract chandelier. All rooms feature signature photomurals and “tromp l’oeil” selections by Bram Tihany that infuse energy and a sense of modern Italian design. The VIP Suite, finished in exotic zebrawood, features a 76-square-meter private terrace and an enclosed Jacuzzi, often booked by the Boscolo family for private use.
